Summary
This article explains how to configure Microsoft Teams to receive webhook notifications from Whistic. Microsoft retired Office 365 Connectors in August 2024, so the previous connector-based setup is no longer available.
Whistic webhook alerts are now routed to Microsoft Teams using a Power Automate Workflow. Follow the steps below to generate a webhook URL in Microsoft Teams and connect it to your Whistic webhook configuration.
🔧 Prerequisites
Before you begin, confirm the following:
- You have access to the Microsoft Teams channel where you want to receive Whistic notifications.
- You have permission to manage Workflows in that Teams channel.
- You have already created a webhook in Whistic or have access to your Whistic Admin settings to configure one.
🪜 Steps
Step 1: Open Workflows in Microsoft Teams
- In Microsoft Teams, navigate to the channel where you want to receive Whistic webhook notifications.
- Select the three-dot menu (More options) next to the channel name.
- From the dropdown, select Workflows.
Step 2: Select the Webhook Workflow Template
- In the Workflows panel that appears, scroll to the All templates section.
- Select Send webhook alerts to a channel.
Step 3: Name Your Workflow and Confirm the Connection
- In the workflow setup window, enter a name for your workflow in the Name field. We recommend something descriptive, such as "Whistic Webhook Alerts," so it is easy to identify later.
- Under Connections, confirm that your Microsoft Teams account is listed and shows a valid connection (indicated by a green checkmark).
- Select Next to continue.
Step 4: Select Your Team and Channel
- On the Details screen, use the Microsoft Teams Team dropdown to select the team that contains your target channel.
- Use the Microsoft Teams Channel dropdown to select the specific channel where notifications should be delivered.
- Select Add workflow to finalize the setup.
Step 5: Copy Your Webhook URL
- Once the workflow is created, a confirmation screen will appear with the message "Workflow added successfully!"
- Your unique webhook URL will be displayed. Select Click to copy to copy the URL to your clipboard.
- Select Done to close the setup window.
Step 6: Add the Webhook URL to Whistic
- Navigate to your Whistic Admin settings.
- Locate the Webhook configuration section.
- Paste the copied webhook URL into the appropriate field.
- Save your changes.
Once saved, Whistic will begin sending notifications to your selected Microsoft Teams channel whenever a webhook event is triggered.
❓ FAQ
Why can't I find the Connectors option in Microsoft Teams anymore?
Microsoft retired Office 365 Connectors in August 2024. The Connectors option has been removed from Teams channels. You must now use the Power Automate Workflows method described in this article to receive incoming webhook alerts.
Can I use the same workflow for multiple Whistic webhooks?
Each Power Automate workflow generates one unique webhook URL. If you need to send different types of Whistic notifications to different Teams channels, you will need to create a separate workflow for each channel and configure each URL in Whistic accordingly.
What happens to webhook alerts I had configured with the old Office 365 Connectors method?
Those connections are no longer active. You will need to recreate the integration using the Power Automate Workflow method described in this article and update your Whistic webhook configuration with the new URL.
Where do I manage or edit my webhook workflow after it has been created?
In Microsoft Teams, go to your channel, select the three-dot menu, and choose Workflows. From there, select Manage to view, edit, or delete any existing workflows for that channel.
I don't see the Workflows option in my Teams channel menu. What should I do?
The Workflows option may not be available if Power Automate is not enabled for your Microsoft Teams environment. Contact your IT administrator to confirm that Power Automate is enabled for your organization.
