Summary
Why Use Comments?
Comments are key to driving an Issue toward resolution. Here are some of the ways you can use comments:
- Owner/Assignee Collaboration - after assigning the Issue to someone, the owner can communicate with that person through the Issue comments. In turn, the assignee can reply back to the owner regarding the request and status.
- Status Updates - as people work on the Issue, internal teammates can leave notes on the comment thread to track work completed and other updates.
Steps
How to Use Comments
Making a comment is simple, but there are a few things to remember:
- Make sure the Issue is not in Edit mode to access the comment thread
- Begin adding a comment by clicking into the empty Add comment box atop the comment thread
- Use rich text editing options to enhance your comment
- NOTE: Attaching documents/screenshots is not supported yet. We are working on it and expect to have in the coming months.
- Once ready, submit your comment using the following options:
- Send to Assignee - the assignee is notified via email that there is a new comment awaiting their attention. The comment is visible in the assignee's comment thread. The assignee can then reply to that comment, adding to the thread.
- Save Internal Note - the note is only visible to other users within your organization that also have access to Issues.
- Edit & Delete comments - you are able to edit and delete comments that you made (but not for others). Simply select the dot menu in the published comment and select the desired action. Any change is immediately reflected in the comment thread for everyone.
