Summary
Whistic has configured accounts to function in a specific way. Especially when it comes to the unique identifiers that distinguish your data. There is not much flexibility currently when it comes to changing those identifiers or migrating data. Please let us know if you have questions. Below you will find details about each data point.
Everything you will find below enables Whistic to function as a communication network with all users and companies interacting bidirectionally together on the same platform. If there is anything here that does not meet your requirements, please let us know.
User Accounts
The email address value is what distinguishes one user account from another. So if you have 2 email addresses within Whistic, then you will have 2 separate user accounts with unconnected user data.
A user account is always associated with one or more company instances. Access levels are unique to each user and company combination.
Company Instances
The website value is what distinguishes one company instance from another. This may be referred to as a domain or URL as well. If you have 2 company domains within Whistic, then you will have 2 separate company instances with unconnected company data. You can toggle between the different companies using the toggle in the upper left corner of Whistic. More on that can be found HERE.
Unmanaged Users
"Not Managed" (or non-managed) refers to the 'managed' checkbox in User Permissions and the 'Access' column in Admin Tools > User Management. This is the control that restricts access for a user to a company's data. A managed user has access to shared company data. Whereas, an unmanaged user will not if they are on a paid customer account. For more details, you can click HERE. Other access control features include Activation, Roles, and Archiving.
Test Accounts
Whistic company test accounts are occasionally approved and created by the Whistic team when customers are implementing an API or other integration feature. Other use cases may apply as well.
These are also referred to as a Whistic sandbox account, stage account, etc.
Please contact Support@whistic.com or your CSM if you'd like to learn more.
User Creation & History
Because of the information and controls discussed above, anyone can be associated with any company at any time. However, access to company data is handled and locked down accordingly.
We currently do not have a feature that allows you to see the history of how and when exactly a customer was associated with your account.
Multiple Company Access Limit
Currently, users can only access a certain amount of company accounts before they will be blocked completely and unable to login. Historically the limit is around 15-18.
If a user gets an endless loading login page, this limitation may be the cause. Please contact support@whistic.com and let them know which accounts you can be temporarily archived on and which ones access needs to be retained.
