Summary
If you've sent an assessment request to a vendor contact who isn't the best person to complete it, you can easily reassign the request to a different contact at any time. This article shows you how to reassign assessment requests as the requester.
🔄 When to Reassign vs. Add a Collaborator
Before reassigning, consider whether the vendor would benefit from adding a collaborator instead.
What happens when you reassign:
- The original assignee loses the ability to submit responses
- Their progress is saved on their account but cannot be submitted
- Progress is not transferred to the new assignee as the original request is canceled and a new request is sent to the new user
- The new contact (assignee) receives an email invitation to complete the request
Recommend adding a collaborator when:
- The vendor has already made progress on the assessment
- Multiple people need to work together on the request collectively
- The vendor wants to preserve existing work

❓ FAQ
What happens to the original assignee's progress when I reassign?
The original assignee's progress is saved on their account, but they can no longer submit it since they're no longer assigned to the request. This progress is not transferred to the new assignee, who will start fresh. If preserving progress is important, encourage the vendor to add a collaborator instead of reassigning.
Can the original assignee still view the assessment after I reassign it?
The original assignee can still see their saved progress on their account, but they cannot access the active assessment request or submit responses.
How many times can I reassign an assessment request?
As the requester, you can reassign an assessment as many times as needed. There is no limit on reassignments from your side.
Will the new assignee see the previous contact's answers?
No. The new assignee starts with a fresh assessment request. Previous answers remain saved on the original assignee's account but are not transferred.
Can I reassign if the vendor has already started the assessment?
Yes, you can reassign at any point during the assessment process. However, keep in mind that any progress made by the original assignee will not transfer to the new contact.
Should I recommend reassignment or adding a collaborator to my vendor?
If the vendor has already made progress or if multiple people need to work on the assessment together, recommend adding a collaborator. If the wrong person was assigned initially and no meaningful progress has been made, reassignment is appropriate.
