Whistic URL Whitelist

Summary

Occasionally, a user is unable to access Whistic due to client security measures, such as a firewall.

For example, if you are not able to download certain files from Whistic, your IT team have intentional restrictions in place on specific file types like DOCX or ZIP (Ref. ZD #30329). 'Browser Download Failed - Network Error - Check Internet Connection'

The following URLs need to be added to your companies whitelist to access and use Whistic:

  • *.whistic.com (recommended as it encompasses all our URLs)
  • https://whistic-uploaded-documents-prod.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/ (recommended as it calls to our AWS S3 instance)

🌐 The following are examples of network errors that may occur when the Whistic subdomains are blocked:

  1. When attempting to access Whistic, the web page lands on a loading screen and continues to refresh but does not move forward.

  2. Upon viewing your console tab in your browser development tools the following error is found:

    access to script at https://www.cf.whistic.com...from origin 'https://console.whistic.com' has been blocked by CORS policy...

🔍 Example

  • While on the Whistic login page, right-mouse click and select Inspect.
  • A network window will open where you can select the Network tab or Console tab. Errors such as these access to script at https://www.cf.whistic.com...from origin 'https://console.whistic.com' has been blocked by CORS policy... will be seen in the body of the tab. Once done you can close with the X in the upper right-hand corner.

🛠️ How to resolve network/firewall-related issues:

  1. Reach out to your IT department and advise them to add the URLs to their whitelist.
  2. Once they have confirmed that the URLs have been added, you should be able to refresh the page and log in to Whistic.
  3. Check with your IT department if Zscaler or NetScaler is in use, as it is possible that configuration settings are affecting access or functionality, such as downloads.
    1. Zscaler is a cloud-based cybersecurity platform that provides secure internet and application access for organizations. Zscaler essentially acts as a security checkpoint in the cloud that all internet traffic passes through before reaching users or applications.
    2. NetScaler (now called Citrix ADC - Application Delivery Controller) is used as a load balancer and application delivery platform. NetScaler is commonly deployed in enterprise environments, data centers, and cloud infrastructures to optimize application delivery, enhance security, and ensure reliable access to web applications and services.
  4. Disable your VPN and try again. An active VPN connection can interfere with Whistic's ability to load or process documents. If you're connected to a VPN, disconnect and attempt the login or request the summary again.
NOTE: Whistic Inc. owns whistic.com and all subdomains (*.whistic.com) and reserves the right to add additional subdomains as needed to implement new features and improve system performance. Thus, it is recommended to use *.whistic.com to ensure that you can experience all of Whistic's features.
