Summary
The Assessment Owner field helps you designate a primary contact responsible for managing a vendor assessment. This makes it easy to track who's overseeing each assessment and ensures clear accountability throughout the vendor review process.
When a new assessment is created, the user who initiates it is automatically set as the Assessment Owner. Owners can be reassigned at any time by an Admin user.
👤 Assigning an Assessment Owner
When a new assessment is created, the creator is automatically assigned as the Assessment Owner. To manually assign or change the owner:
- Navigate to the Vendor Detail page and open an Assessment
- Locate the Owner field in the upper right corner
- Click Assign (or the Edit icon if an owner is already assigned)
- A window will appear. Select the Owner from the dropdown menu
- Click Save
Permissions: Only Admin users can assign or change an Assessment Owner.
Notifications: The assigned user will receive both an in-app notification and an email confirming they've been set as the Assessment Owner. Going forward, Assessment Owners will also receive the same assessment event notifications that Admin users receive, keeping them informed of activity throughout the review process.
🔄 Removing an Assessment Owner
To unassign an owner:
- Click the Edit icon next to the current owner's name
- Clear the Owner by selecting the X next to their name in the dropdown
- Click Save
📍 Where Assessment Owner Appears
The Owner will be visible in the following locations:
- On the Vendor Detail page, on the header row of the assessment
- In reporting under the Assessment Owners field

Who can view Assessment Owners?
All users can see who is assigned as the Assessment Owner for any assessment they have access to. However, only Admin users can assign or modify the owner.
Is an Assessment Owner required?
No, this field is optional. Assessments can be left unassigned if your team doesn't need to designate a specific owner.
Can I assign someone who didn't start the assessment?
Yes, any user with Admin or Vendor Review permissions can be assigned as the owner, regardless of who initiated the assessment.
Can the owner be changed after an assessment is finalized?
Yes, Admin users can modify the Assessment Owner at any time, even after an assessment is completed.
What happens if the Assessment Owner's account is archived?
Archived users are automatically removed as Assessment Owners. An Admin user can reassign the assessment to an active user at any time.
What notifications does an Assessment Owner receive?
