Custom Fields for Issues allow you to tailor issue tracking to match your organization's unique workflow. Administrators can create up to 10 custom fields to capture the specific information your team needs when managing vendor issues. These fields can be configured as text entries or multiple choice selections, marked as required or optional, and set to be visible or hidden from vendors—giving you complete control over how issues are documented and tracked in Whistic.
⚙️ Creating Custom Fields
- Navigate to Assess Settings in your Whistic account
- Locate the Manage Additional Fields for Issues section
- Click Create Field
- Configure your custom field with the following options:
- Field Type: Select either Text (for open-ended responses) or Multiple Choice (for predefined options)
- Label: Enter a descriptive name for your custom field
- Required Answer: Toggle to determine if users must complete this field when creating or updating an issue
- Visible to Vendor: Toggle to control whether vendors can see this field when viewing issues in an open status through remediation plans
- If you selected Multiple Choice, add your question options
- Click Save to create your custom field

Editing Custom Fields
- Navigate to Assess Settings in your Whistic account
- Locate the Manage Additional Fields for Issues section
- Find the custom field you want to edit
- Click the Edit (pencil icon) next to the field
- Make your desired changes to:
- Field type (Text or Multiple Choice)
- Label
- Required status
- Vendor visibility
- Question options (if applicable)
- Click Save to apply your changes
Deleting Custom Fields
- Navigate to Assess Settings in your Whistic account
- Locate the Manage Additional Fields for Issues section
- Find the custom field you want to remove
- Click the Trash icon next to the field
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Important: Deleting a custom field will remove it from all existing and future issues.

What happens to existing issues when I edit or delete a custom field?
When you edit a custom field, changes will apply to all existing and future issues. Existing issues retain the data entered based on the field's previous configuration but the label will be different. When you delete a custom field, it will be removed from all current and future issues.
Can I reorder custom fields?
Yes, use the icon to the left of the custom fields to reorder them.
What happens if I reach the 10-field limit?
If you've created 10 custom fields and need to add another, you'll need to delete an existing field first. Review your current fields to identify any that are no longer needed or could be consolidated with other fields.
