Summary
Web Sources for Vendor Summary automatically discovers and extracts security content from your vendors' public trust pages. This feature enhances the Vendor Summary by providing additional context for AI-driven summarization — reducing manual research and improving summary completeness, especially when direct vendor documentation is limited.
Important: Whistic AI must be licensed and enabled for your account before this feature will appear. If you're unsure whether your account includes Whistic AI, contact your Customer Success Manager or check your Plan Overview in Admin Tools.
Getting Started
Requirements:
- Whistic AI must be licensed and enabled in your company settings
- You must have access to the Vendors section of your Whistic account
- The Launch Whistic AI button must be visible on the vendor's profile (if it does not appear, see Troubleshooting below)
⚙️ How It Works
Web Sources operates automatically through three steps once enabled for a vendor:
- Discovery - Identifies trust-related public pages for your vendors
- Content Extraction - Retrieves relevant security information from discovered pages
- AI Integration - Structures content and feeds it into the Vendor Summary context
Web Sources Management:
- View all discovered sources for vendors
- Toggle automated collection on/off per vendor
- Monitor source activity and update frequency
Source Review:
- Select which sources to include in Vendor Summary
- Remove irrelevant or low-quality sources
- Toggle sources on/off from the Vendor Details page
To access and manage Web Sources for a vendor, through Vendor Summary:
- Navigate to Vendors in your Whistic account by going to Assess > Vendors
- Select the vendor you want to review
- On the vendor's profile, click Start Assessment or open an existing assessment that is not finalized
- Once sources are returned or available, click Launch Whistic AI
- From the Launch Whistic AI page, you can:
- Toggle automated web source collection on or off for the vendor summary
Troubleshooting
The "Launch Whistic AI" button isn't visible on the vendor profile.
This is most commonly a licensing or settings issue. Try the following:
- Confirm that Whistic AI is included in your account's plan. Go to Resources > Plan Overview to view licensed AI features.
- If Whistic AI is listed but the button still doesn't appear, verify that the feature has been enabled in your company settings. An Admin user may need to enable it.
- If no sources or information has been returned by the vendor, you must wait for the items to be returned and/or you must upload a source to begin use of Whistic AI.
- If you're still unable to see the button after checking both of the above, contact your Customer Success Manager or Whistic Support.

Web sources refresh approximately every 30 days to maintain current information.
Can I exclude certain sources from a vendor?
Yes. You can disable sources (including web sources) for any vendor using the toggle on the Vendor Details page.
What happens if no web sources are found for a vendor?
The Vendor Summary will rely on available questionnaire responses and documents. Web sources are supplementary and not required for summary generation.
How does this improve Vendor Summary quality?
Web sources provide additional context that can reduce "unknown" responses in summaries and offer more comprehensive vendor security information, especially when direct documentation is limited.
